About
Robert Bradley
Robert Foster Bradley, M.D., is highly skilled in multiple specialties of surgical pathology and cytopathology, with distinguished expertise in GI/liver pathology and pulmonary pathology. After graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2001, he completed anatomic/clinical pathology residency and a cytopathology fellowship at Wake Forest, followed by a GI/Liver pathology fellowship at UCLA in 2006-2007, with additional training in pulmonary pathology (including interstitial lung disease) at UCLA before returning to South Carolina. He has been awarded Outstanding Teacher for pulmonary pathology instruction to fellows in pulmonary medicine. Dr. Bradley is an internationally recognized expert on the pathology of appendiceal tumors, especially mucinous tumors with peritoneal spread causing “pseudomyxoma peritonei” (PMP), having authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications relevant to the topic (beginning with a pivotal study published in 2006 in the American Journal of Surgical Pathology). He proposed refined grading and simplified pathologic nomenclature of PMP as “mucinous carcinoma peritonei” versus more complex prior classifications and has contributed to internationally standardized reporting for appendiceal cancers through participation in the Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI) and the International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting (ICCR). Dr. Bradley practices general surgical pathology and cytology and performs expert consultations for challenging GI and lung pathology cases, both neoplastic and nonneoplastic. Throughout his career, he has remained active as the primary pathologist for both GI and thoracic multidisciplinary tumor boards. Dr. Bradley is Chief of Pathology for the Midlands Division of MUSC Health and Medical Director for multiple MUSC Health laboratories, including MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Downtown, MUSC Health Columbia Northeast Medical Center and MUSC Health Kershaw.
