Alfred Casale, MD, is the chief medical officer for Geisinger Surgical, chair of the Geisinger Heart Institute, and chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He joined Geisinger in 2001 as the director of cardiothoracic surgery at the Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. He serves as chairman of the board of directors for the American Heart Association in Northeast Pennsylvania. Dr Casale earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He did his residency at Johns Hopkins University, as well as postdoctoral clinical and policy work at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Harvard University's John F Kennedy School of Government.
