John D. Gottsch, M.D., is the Margaret C. Mosher Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. Dr. Gottsch specializes in the management of hereditary corneal disorders such as Fuchs' dystrophy, the surgical treatment of cataract and complications of cataract surgery, and corneal transplantation surgery. His clinical practice involves the medical treatment of allergic eye diseases and severe corneal inflammation from rheumatoid and other related disorders, including Mooren''s ulcer. His research interests include determining the gene expression of the cornea and the genetic basis for hereditary corneal diseases such as Fuchs' dystrophy.
