Judith Goldstein

Judith Goldstein, O.D., F.A.A.O., is an optometrist specializing in vision loss in older adults and a leader in research and education at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute.Bringing years of clinical experience in low vision rehabilitation, Dr. Goldstein joined the Wilmer Eye Institute in 2006 as Director of Clinical Services with a focus on program-building efforts. Recognizing the growing need for physicians trained in this essential specialty of care, she established the Fellowship Training Program in 2008 with the aim of expanding the number of dedicated low vision experts in the field to care for the growing population with vision loss. This unique program has trained nine low vision physician-scientist and remains the only program of its kind in the U.S.An Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Rehabilitation Medicine at the Wilmer Eye Institute at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Dr. Goldstein is the Director of the Lions Vision Research and Rehabilitation Center and previously led the Low Vision Research Network, a collaborative network whose research focused on measurement of low vision rehabilitation outcomes. Dr. Goldstein’s current work focuses on issues of caring for older adults with vision loss and on improving health systems and services delivery to the growing population in need.
