Tarek Hassab is a General/Minimally invasive surgeon (MIS) in the Johns Hopkins Department of Surgery, practicing at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center. After receiving his MD, he went on to do 11 years of surgical training including 2 fellowships (sub-specialty training); a Colorectal surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic as well as an Advanced Gastrointestinal/Minimally invasive surgery fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
As a General/MIS surgeon, Dr. Hassab has had extensive training in all surgical modalities; open, laparoscopic, and Robotic surgical techniques that involve the abdomen. This includes Bariatric, Foregut (Reflux disease, Hiatal hernias), colorectal surgery as well as Hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction.
His research interests include patient outcomes data. He has presented his research at many national and international conferences. He was Granted the Scholar of the Year award in 2020 for his efforts in research during his residency. He holds a Masters degree in surgical sciences from University of Alexandria and completed a Research Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Colorectal Surgery department.
