Mariam Gomaa, M.D., is an obstetrician gynecologist with Johns Hopkins Community Physicians. Dr. Gomaa provides comprehensive women’s healthcare, including pregnancy management, fertility planning, menopause care and gynecologic surgery. Dr. Gomaa’s professional interests include minimally invasive surgery, healthcare technology, health literacy and health equity. She is fluent in Arabic and has a special interest in immigrant and minority health, as she grew up helping her parents navigate the healthcare system for her brother with disabilities.
Outside of her work as a physician, Dr. Gomaa is a writer. Her work has appeared in Time, ABC News, NBC News, Los Angeles Review of Books and more.
Dr. Gomaa earned her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Howard University. She received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in creative writing and biochemistry.
On her days off, she is a runner, reader, interior designer and fashion enthusiast. She lives with her husband in Washington, D.C.
