Christina Cherny, OD, FAAO, Dip ABO, is an Assistant Clinical Optometrist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and specializes in cornea, specialty contact lenses, primary eye care, and myopia management. She was previously an Instructor in Ophthalmology at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. Dr. Cherny graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, Health and Society. She was awarded her optometry degree with a micro-credential in Advanced Cornea and Specialty Contact Lenses from State University of New York College of Optometry, and completed her residency in Cornea, Specialty Contact Lenses, and Ocular Disease at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School. There, she gained valuable expertise in the medical management of corneal/anterior segment disease and irregularity, ocular graft-versus-host disease, ocular surface disease, aphakia, and degenerative myopia, as well as in comprehensive and emergent eye care. Dr. Cherny's clinical interests include novel uses of specialty contact lenses to improve visual outcomes and ocular health, and she has published peer-reviewed literature, given lectures, and presented scientific posters at national/international conferences on this topic. She is board-certified by the American Board of Optometry and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
