Gaurav Varma, MD, MSPH is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Physician at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital. He specializes in the care of patients with hematologic and solid tumor malignancies, with a focus on cell therapies and bone marrow transplantation.Dr. Varma earned a B.S. in Physiological Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, an M.S.P.H. in International Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and an MD from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed Internal Medicine residency at NewYork Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at NYU Langone Health, and subspecialty fellowship training in Bone Marrow Transplantation and Immune Effector Cell Therapy at NewYork Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. Following his training, Dr. Varma was recruited to join the faculty in the Weill Cornell Medicine Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cell Therapy Program. In addition to his active involvement as a clinical trial investigator, Dr. Varma’s research focuses on the evaluation of novel therapies with a focus on real-world outcomes and collaborations with translational investigators. He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications including NEJM, Blood, and Clinical Cancer Research and has presented at national and international meetings.
