After residency, she worked in private practice for six years in Northern Virginia. While in Virginia, she served as the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Public Policy Advocate for the state of Virginia. She was the Northern District Trustee for the Virginia Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Legislative Co-Chair for the Northern Virginia Dental Society and member of the Virginia Dental Association Council on Government Affairs.
