Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I chose a career in medicine after my first child was delivered by a Certified Nurse Midwife 16 years ago. She showed me true compassion. This gave me the drive to want to provide care to women. Caring for women is a very rewarding career. You're able to be there for some of the most important moments in a woman's life. I spent the last ten years working as a Registered Nurse and learning how to provide compassionate care to patients. I have many years in a freestanding birth center and labor and delivery hospital setting as a nurse. This gave me the experience I needed to go back to graduate school and pursue my ultimate dream of becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife.
