Dr Haugland grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa. Fall is one of his favorite seasons of the year when he routinely takes time off to go back to Iowa and help his parents with the annual harvest. Along with his husband, Dr Haugland enjoys flying, bicycling, motorcycling, kayaking, cross country and downhill skiing, and playing wallyball. Each year, they routinely go bicycling on RAGBRAI in Iowa and to the annual airplane fly-in festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
