Carolina Olmos, MD, is a psychiatrist who values being an empathic listener for her patients. She takes the time to listen to her patients’ concerns in order to deeply understand the context of their issues. Her practice is also equipped with a variety of interventional psychiatry options for those with treatment-resistant depression. Her clinical areas of interest are treatment-resistant depression, major depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, adult general psychiatry, bipolar disorder, transcultural psychiatry, and interventional psychiatry. Dr. Olmos is currently an assistant professor at the Faillace Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She is also a provider at the treatment-resistant depression clinic, which is a part of the Center of Excellence on Mood Disorders. She serves as one of the attending physicians supervising the residents in the third year psychiatry resident clinic. Until recently, she was the chief resident of the UTHealth Houston psychiatry residency program, where she was the recipient of the Robert Guynn, MD Graduating Resident Award. Dr. Olmos graduated from medical school in 2009, completed her general psychiatry residency training in 2013 at Faculdade de Ciências Médicas Santa Casa de São Paulo, Brazil, and later became an attending physician supervising residents for the same institution. As a board-certified psychiatrist in Brazil, she completed extensive clinical work in very diversified and challenging settings before moving to the U.S. in 2015.
