Jan Fronek, MD, is a member of the Scripps Clinic division of orthopedics and head of sports medicine, a section dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of sports-related injuries. His expertise includes arthroscopic surgery, which uses a pencil-sized telescope to diagnose and treat knee, shoulder and other joint problems. This minimally invasive procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, and frequently produces less pain and results in faster healing. Dr Fronek treats a variety of injuries with arthroscopic surgery and open treatment, including meniscus and articular cartilage injuries; rotator cuff injuries; biceps tendon and glenoid labrum injuries; torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL); and dislocated shoulders.
