A fellowship trained ophthalmologist, Ray Gariano, MD, diagnoses and treats all medical and surgical aspects of retinal disease, including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular pucker and macular hole. He also provides care for people with vascular, infectious, inflammatory and cancer-related eye conditions. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Gariano is the principal investigator at Scripps Clinic of clinical studies investigating macular degeneration and ocular angiogenesis (abnormal vascular growth). He is also on staff at the Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) where he has an active scientific focus on diabetic retinopathy.
