Both of my parents are in the medical field, and I saw the difference they were able to make in the lives of others while I was growing up. Then, in 1999, my dad broke his neck in a diving accident and witnessing his long recovery inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. I chose women's health because it offered the opportunity to provide continuity of care over time, get to know patients on a personal level and support them as they grow their families. For me, being able to connect with women and provide support and encouragement during vulnerable times in their lives is very rewarding. I enjoy getting to know my patients, watching their families grow over the years and making what some consider the dreaded visit to the gynecologist less awkward and uncomfortable. As a mother myself, I know how personal prenatal and postpartum care can make a woman feel valued and understood. Having gone through the pregnancy, labor, delivery and the postpartum process multiple times, I can relate to my patients and provide firsthand experience from both a personal and professional point of view. Adolescent gynecology, pre-conception counseling, pre/postnatal care, infertility and contraception management are areas of particular interest. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children. We enjoy going to the lake, hiking, biking and traveling. My interests include photography and baking, and I am very active in my church. We made Winston-Salem our home in 2011 and have happily planted roots here.
