Another motivator for pursuing a career in medicine: My grandmother dealt with chronic illnesses, and she often talked about the need for more compassionate and well-educated doctors. When she passed away, it inspired me to further my career and display the characteristics she thought a provider should have.
My approach to healthcare is a combination of compassion, education and old-fashioned TLC. I believe caring for a person should involve a holistic approach. I take all aspects of my patients' lives into consideration when providing care for them and involve my patients in their plan of care to ensure their health goals are met.
I serve on the board of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
I am married and have four beautiful children - three girls and one boy. My oldest daughter and I like to watch cooking shows and try to recreate the meals. Singing is one of my passions, and I work with youth to help develop their love for music.
