I was a teacher before I was a nurse. That?s how I first got to experience nursing. I worked with kids with special needs. Many of them had medical needs, so we also had nurses on staff to care for those kids. That?s how I got interested in medicine and health care. Since I became a nurse, I?ve worked in the hospital. I?ve been an ER nurse and a few other roles, but I wanted to be out of the hospital and and start taking care of people on the front end so maybe they won't have to go to the hospital later. I just naturally like to get to know people. It?s just my personality. I get it from my mom. So whenever patients come in, I start asking questions, see how they?re doing. Whenever I can find something in common with them and talk through that, that builds a relationship and helps them trust me with their care.
