She grew up in Henderson, NV, received her BS at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and received her MD at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Dr Tan completed her General Surgery training at Washington University in St. Louis / Barnes Jewish Hospital. She then completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
