Instead of joining the NBA, Dr. Rodriguez attended Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and graduated in 1988. He completed his internship and residency at Bexar County Hospital District and went back to the University of Texas HSC to complete his fellowship in 1994.
