My name is Dr Aman M Shah and I am a clinical assistant professor in the University of Florida division of cardiovascular medicine. I specialize in advanced heart failure, ventricular assist devices, heart transplantation, infiltrative cardiomyopathies, including amyloidosis and diastolic heart failure. During my childhood, I was inspired by the stories shared of my grandfather, a simple school teacher in India. He transformed the lives of many through education and helped those in need whenever he could. His time with his family and students was cut short by a heart attack in the early 1970s, when access to care was limited, and the technology did not exist to manage his condition.
