He has interests in musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided procedures, tendinopathies and overuse injuries. Advanced ultrasound procedures that he can perform include, but are not limited to: glenohumeral joint hydrodistension, high-volume image-guided injection/tendon scraping of Achilles or patellar tendon, calcific barbotage, percutaneous needle tenotomy, various nerve blocks, and platelet- rich plasma injections.
In his spare time, he enjoys strength training and crossfit for physical fitness, playing recreational sports, and spending time with family. He is a big fan of college and professional football. He and his wife, Bethany, who is from the Upstate, recently had twin boys. They are thrilled to be back in the Upstate!

Tyler Schmitz, DO, is a primary care sports medicine physician. He is originally from middle Tennessee. Dr. Schmitz completed medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, SC, followed by a family medicine residency at East Tennessee State University in the Tricities of Tennessee. He then did a sports medicine fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.He has interests in musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided procedures, tendinopathies and overuse injuries.
