Dr. Shepard is a neurosurgeon with AHN Neuroscience Institute. He specializes in surgical removal of cancerous and benign tumors of the brain, skull, and spine, as well Gamma Knife radiosurgery and awake craniotomies. He offers corrective surgical options to address conditions such as Chiari malformation, stenosis, herniated discs, radiculopathy, and myelopathy.
Dr. Shepard earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. His surgical residency was completed at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia. His Neurosurgical Oncology fellowship was then completed with MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, where he applied special focus to spinal oncology and minimally invasive skull base, in addition to his general neurosurgical oncology track.
His practice philosophy is one that holds strong believe in customized patient care. Because each patient is different, Dr. Shepard presents surgical and nonsurgical options tailored to honor the patient’s values, maximize their quality of life, and achieve the best treatment outcomes.
He serves as Vice Chair for Young Neurosurgeons – AANS and CNS Tumor Section and gives his time to a few other professionally related committees.
