Dr. Brigitte Smith is a native of Wisconsin. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse in Microbiology, Chemistry with a concentration in Biomedical Science. Her MD was awarded to her from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. There she continued her residency in Vascular Surgery. During her residency she received a grant, Improving Provision of Smoking Cessation Resources to Vascular Surgery Inpatients Utilizing the Electronic Medical Record. She developed an interest in medical education becoming a residency representative to APDVS. She is continuing this interest at the University of Utah. She is the Course Director for the Vascular Surgery Clerkship, is a member of School of Medicine Curriculum Committee, a member of the Accredited Education Institute Planning Committee, Associate Program Director of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship and was recently named Vice-Chair of Education for the Department of Surgery.Dr. Smith has been trained in a wide variety of minimally invasive endovascular techniques, as well as traditional open procedures in order to treat the full spectrum of vascular diseases including, but not limited to the following:Abdominal aortic aneurysmsPeripheral arterial disease (PAD)Varicose VeinsDialysis accessCarotid artery disease
