Samer Najjar, MD, is the Regional Chief of Cardiology for MedStar’s Baltimore region, overseeing four hospitals and ambulatory cardiology practices. A specialist in advanced heart failure, transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support, he is also a Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University. Previously, he led the Advanced Heart Failure program at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and directed the heart failure clinic at Johns Hopkins Bayview. He also led cardiovascular research at the NIH. Dr Najjar earned his degrees from Harvard and Yale, trained at Johns Hopkins, and received the ACC/Merck Research Award. With 130+ publications, he leads a multidisciplinary team advancing heart failure care.
