Dr. Wheeler is an Associate Professor in Pediatrics working within the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology. Dr. Wheeler completed his medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, his pediatric residency training at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Utah. Dr. Wheeler is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology. Dr. Wheeler’s clinical interest is focused on motility disorders including achalasia, dysphagia, Hirschsprung disease, pseudo-obstruction, encopresis, and severe constipation. Dr. Wheeler is the Medical Director of the Motility Disorders Program at Primary Children’s Hospital with specialty testing and management of children with motility disorders, the only such program in the Intermountain West. Dr. Wheeler’s research interests include the epidemiology of motility disorders, clinical utility of EndoFLIP testing for patients with dysphagia, and improvement in management and follow-up of chronic constipation. Dr. Wheeler is a native of Utah, and he is fluent in Spanish.
