Brian Flaherty, MD, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Denver and received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Stanford University/Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. He then stayed at Stanford University and served as the Chief Resident for the Pediatric Residency Program and worked as both an inpatient pediatric hospitalist and outpatient general pediatrician. Following his chief residency, he completed a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Utah. Dr. Flaherty currently serves as an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at the University of Utah. He is board certified in Pediatrics and board eligible in Pediatric Critical Care. He cares for critically ill and injured children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Primary Children’s Hospital. Dr. Flaherty’s main research interests is investigating variations in resource use in the care of critically injured children. This includes research into areas of potential over treatment and developing quality improvement systems.
