Shahrzad (Shari) R. Brown, MD, is a Breast Surgical Oncologist at UM Health-Sparrow Lansing. Dr. Brown was born and raised in California and received a B.S. in Molecular and Environmental Biology from the University of California Berkeley and completed General Surgery residency at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland in Pontiac, MI. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Brown left Michigan to complete a Breast Surgical Oncology fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Here she participated in cutting edge research and presented her research nationally at the American Society of Breast Surgeons conference. Her research findings were described in the General Surgery News and published in Annals of Surgical Oncology.
Dr. Brown returned to Michigan to bring the expertise from her university center training to our patients. Her surgical and research interests are in clinical trials, oncoplastic techniques, breast cancer related lymphedema, high risk patient populations, as well as benign and malignant breast disease. She also has a passion for resident education.
