Dr Hyjek earned her MD and PhD from the Medical University of Lodz in Poland. She completed an Anatomic/Clinical Pathology residency and a Hematopathology fellowship at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She was most recently an Associate Professor of Pathology and a Hematopathology attending at the University of Chicago. Dr Hyjek has a clinical interest in myeloid neoplasms, acute leukemias and lymphoproliferative disorders, with particular interest in myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms.
