Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I went into medicine because it is both intellectually demanding as well as enjoyable to interact with patients, staff and colleagues. You never achieve perfection at what you do, but you can attempt a degree of mastery in your specific field. Medicine is a constant challenge and learning process. It is most enjoyable when people come back to me feeling better and benefiting from the treatments that I give them. What I want my patients to know about me: When I see a patient for the first time, I am trying to gather as much information so that I can offer them the best treatment possible. That may or may not involve my area of particular expertise.
