His research focuses on the mechanisms of cardiac stem (progenitor) cell differentiation and migration in normal and diseased human hearts; molecular, morphological, and functional changes in hearts after transplantation and after insertion of a ventricular assist device; molecular mechanisms of bioprosthetic and native valve calcification; and Cardiothoracic Tissue Repository.
