Dr Gamero received his medical degree from Cayetano Heredia University in Peru, South America in 1981. He came to the United States in 1986 to obtain multiple sub-specialty training at the University of Texas and Duke University. Dr Gamero later received a second residency in ophthalmology at the Catholic Medical Center in New York City. He went on to complete an 18 month fellowship in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma at the University of Louisville, where he stayed as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology for five years. Dr Gamero then moved to Florida serving as Assistant Professor and Director of the Glaucoma Service, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Florida College of Medicine, Jacksonville, before joining St.
