Shane Root, MD, is a neurologist in the Lewis Headache Center at Barrow Neurological Institute and an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute.
Dr. Root’s expertise includes diagnosing and treating migraine, trigeminal neuralgia, cerebrospinal fluid leak, intracranial hypotension, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, cluster headache, and occipital neuralgia. In addition to managing headache disorders with medication, he is experienced in nerve block and Botox procedures. Dr. Root is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, The American Headache Society, the Headache Cooperative of the Pacific, and the International Headache Society.
Dr. Root earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. He completed his neurology residency and a headache fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute.
Dr. Root’s research interests include occipital nerve blocks for migraine treatment.
