Dr Virginia Powel is an accomplished medical professional with extensive training and experience. After obtaining her nursing degree from Towson University and an MPH from Johns Hopkins University, she graduated from the University of Maryland Medical School. Dr Powel completed her pediatric residency at the University of Maryland Medical System and a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Children's Hospital of San Diego. With a decade of experience in Oklahoma, she joined Carilion Children's Hospital in 2009 as a PICU medical director, later becoming section chief. She is also certified in nutrition coaching and Obesity Medicine. When not at the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her daughters and pets or working out at the gym.
