Dr Kuehl joined Carilion Clinic in 2007, building the EM residency program as its director. With experience in Wyoming and San Francisco, his research interests encompass practice variation, decision-making, healthcare costs, and traumatic brain injury. He mentors students and residents in research with enthusiasm for innovative teaching, research methodology, and professional growth. Dr Kuehl particularly enjoys bedside teaching of complex procedures, such as orthopedics and urology, and prioritizes providing residents with cutting-edge equipment. Outside work, he coaches his sons in lacrosse and hockey and indulges in skiing, snowboarding, surfing, and fly fishing, often on the New River and James River.
