I enjoyed bedside intensive care unit (ICU) nursing and directly caring for patients, but I wanted a more hands-on approach to determining what care and treatments are best for the patient, which is why I chose to become a nurse practitioner. My approach to patient care is when treating a patient’s problem, it’s my responsibility to care about the patient’s needs as a whole, including educating the patient about their diagnosis, options for treatment and preventive measures that can be taken to prevent worsening of their condition. I think about each patient and their family as if they were my own. My areas of special interest include vascular surgery with surgical assist. Outside of work, I enjoy running, kayaking, taking my dog to new parks to catch the sunset, and watching Green Bay Packers football.
