Dr Spurlock received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, MI. He went on to complete a residency in general surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, followed by a general surgery residency, also at Georgetown University Hospital, and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Michigan Hospital.
