Over a year ago, I went to Dr. Somenek for a cosmetic neck lift as a birthday gift to myself. Results: lumpy neck, protruding muscle, puckered scar, and double chin. Since the neck lift, pain has also been constant. The first week after surgery, I experienced searing pain, and the stinging and tight band around my neck are still with me. For the first 5 months, Dr. Somenek kept reassuring me that the tightness and pain were normal and would resolve on their own. He did no diagnostic tests, provided no pain meds, made no referrals. Doctors believe this delay gave acute pain neural pathways time to become entrenched. After two other doctors ran tests and diagnosed surgically-induced neuropathy, Dr. Somenek just said he didn't know what was causing the pain or what to do about it.
