Dr Bassem Masri is the director of Cardiac Disease Prevention at Weill Cornell Medical College. He served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and Attending Physician in Cardiology at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He is an active member of the American Heart Association, American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, New York Cardiology Society, and Leadership Council for Improving Cardiovascular Care.At Baylor College of Medicine, he completed his cardiology fellowship followed by fellowships in Echocardiography, and in Lipids, Atherosclerosis, and Preventive Cardiology. He served multiple roles there including the appointed cardiologist for the Institute for Preventive Medicine, Director of Echocardiography Lab, and Director of Pacemaker Clinic.He has been recognized as a leading national and international lipid specialist and has received numerous awards including from the Lebanese Cardiology Society, the Young Investigator Award (Merck), Top American Physicians, the Robert and Helen Appel Lipid Scholar Award, and the National Lipid Association fellowship award.At Weill Cornell Medical College, he has developed a medical practice specialized in preventive cardiology. He is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of complex lipid disorders. In 2012, he was appointed as the Daisy and Paul Soros/ Recanati-Kaplan Professor in Preventive Cardiology. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Masri has been actively involved in research, serving as the principal investigator for numerous, including several ongoing, studies in lipids and atherosclerosis.
