Cara Aloisio is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New York. She received her Master of Social Work from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service. While at Fordham, Ms. Aloisio was involved in the Institute for Women & Girls and the International Committee, and was recognized by the New York City Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers for her work. Ms. Aloisio completed postgraduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. She has spent the past decade working in a community-based social service agency, in both outpatient mental health services, where she provided psychotherapy to individuals across the lifespan, and children & adolescent services. She was most recently the director of an early childhood education program. At CUMC, Ms. Aloisio provides direct care to patients in Women’s Mental Health @Ob/Gyn. Ms. Aloisio provides both individual and group psychotherapy using relational, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness-based approaches with a focus on creating collaborative partnerships with patients. Ms. Aloisio has a special interest in working with patients to improve perinatal metal health issues, including postpartum depression and anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and parenting challenges.
