Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: Summer of my senior year with no real idea of what I wanted to pursue as a career, I had the greatest opportunity to spend the summer recess at a hospital with an amazing surgeon. I was so affected by this compassionate ,skillful and humble surgeon with serious commitment to the well being of his patients that it sparked my desire to pursue a career in medicine and to become a surgeon. After 43 years as a physician, I am still trying to model my life after him. What I want my patients to know about me: I am interested in the person first and the interaction of the patient with me as an individual and as a doctor to whom he/she has decided to place a trust.
