I truly believe that every person that needs care should have access to a primary care provider. I grew up in an area with a shortage of medical providers and decided that, as the first person in my family to go to college, I wanted to choose a calling that could help as many people as possible. I love working with people, and the only thing better is helping improve a patients quality of life. I chose family practice for its wonderful variety but have found that I enjoy working with pediatric and adolescent populations to be especially fulfilling. I also love supporting our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) patients and have a special affinity for peer and patient education. I have found that making a true person-to-person connection with my patients makes our time together truly productive. I use humor, when appropriate, and generally show my patients that we are all just human beings doing our best. I like to educate and encourage my patients to make the best choices for their health and well-being, both mentally and physically. When I am not working, I am a consummate lover of all things books and book-related. I always have a book on hand and never have enough shelf space. I also love to spend time with my friends, discover new places to travel, and explore sharing the wonders of the world with my children and husband. I adore trying new and interesting foods as well as all things spicy.
