I completed medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University after doing undergraduate work at Miami University. I then completed a preliminary medicine internship at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. After my internship, I completed a three-year residency in Anesthesia and a one-year fellowship in Pain Management at The Ohio State University.
Originally, I wanted to go into surgery. I ended up liking anesthesia and made that my original focus. I eventually realized that pain management was the niche I truly enjoyed for a variety of reasons. I enjoy working in an outpatient setting. When you practice anesthesia, your interaction with a patient occurs briefly before surgery and briefly afterward.
In pain management, I typically see patients in chronic, long-term pain. I like developing lasting relationships with patients. Sometimes, results from surgical or procedural solutions to pain management can be immediate. I find helping people to gain relief from their pain to be extremely satisfying.
I am from Sandusky, so I was excited to have the opportunity to come back home. I have seen so many positive changes in this area in the last ten years. I truly believe Sandusky and the surrounding area has wonderful things going on. My wife and I wanted to be a part of that. We love the sense of community here that is often lacking in bigger cities. We also think it is a great place to raise our family and to be close to family. I’m not sure that I knew this growing up, but now I can say that this area is truly a hidden gem. We love the lake and life here on the water.
Firelands and the region it serves have provided me with a unique opportunity to build professional and personal relationships. Firelands has an impressive array of specialties, especially for a medical center of its size. I have found the staff to be very friendly and very helpful to my patients and to me. I also believe that Firelands sets up physicians to succeed by providing resources and other specialties that help one another. I am excited to establish my practice in Sandusky and Port Clinton and to help people to manage their pain more effectively.
