Dr. Ellis Kevin Nam was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating at Northwestern University with an Undergraduate Degree in Economics, he earned his Degree in Medicine at Northwestern Medical School. He continued his training at Northwestern Medical School, completing his General Surgery Internship and Orthopaedic Surgery Residency. Dr. Nam completed his fellowship training at Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in Los Angeles, with a subspecialty in minimally invasive arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, knee, and ankle. Dr. Nam is double board certified in both Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. Dr. Nam has extensive experience in Sports Related Injuries, having served as a physician for the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Wolves hockey teams. His research includes an extensive list of publications in the field of orthopedics, sports medicine, and musculoskeletal disorders. He has given numerous presentations at National and International Orthopaedic Society meetings, and serves as an Instructor of Orthopaedic Surgery for both the University of Illinois Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program and Sports Fellowship Program.
Dr. Nam’s treatment philosophy is based on educating the patient on diagnosis and treatment options, as well as gaining a full understanding of all patient concerns. This allows both the patient and Dr. Nam to select an optimal treatment plan tailored for each individual, resulting in the most effective and rapid resolution to the problem at hand.
