Kara Rushing, FNP-C, received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, and her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
Rushing says she chose health care to be able to help and care for people. “This job allows me the opportunity to cultivate relationships and extend love to people on a daily basis, often when they need it most,” she says.
Rushing says she joined the North Mississippi Medical Center staff when she became a registered nurse in 2004 not only because of its reputation as a good employer, but also because a larger hospital would provide ample opportunities to grow as a nurse. “Over the years as my career evolved into advance practice, I have learned even more to appreciate its commitment to its employees and most importantly to excellence in patient care,” she says. “From the main hospital to the home health and hospice agency, and clinic system, we are the best.”
When not working, Kara enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons. They love being outdoors together, as well as baseball, basketball and fishing.
