Jessica Colburn

Dr. Jessica Colburn is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her area of clinical expertise is geriatric medicine. She earned her M.D. from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and performed a fellowship in geriatric medicine and gerontology at Johns Hopkins.  Dr. Colburn’s clinical and educational research is focused on primary care of older adults and teaching learners to care for older adults.Dr. Colburn is the Fellowship Program Director of the Johns Hopkins Geriatrics Fellowship. She also is the principal investigator of the Johns Hopkins Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program, an educational initiative in geriatrics at Johns Hopkins aimed to improve primary care of older adults living in the community through partnerships with primary care and community-based organizations that serve older adults. In addition, Dr. Colburn is the Co-Director of the Johns Hopkins Topics in Geriatric Medicine Course; and precepts and mentors medical students, residents and fellows.  In 2015, she was recognized with the Lisa J. Heiser Award for Junior Faculty Contribution in Education from the Johns Hopkins Institute for Excellence in Education. She also was selected for the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award by the Johns Hopkins Bayview internal medicine residents in both 2020 and 2021.
