Mitchell Silverman
Endocrinologist Mitchell S. Silverman, MD, FACE, specializes in a wide range of endocrine problems, including diabetes, gestational diabetes, pituitary disease, Cushing's syndrome, hirsutism, low testosterone, endocrine hypertension, osteoporosis, Graves' disease, hypothyroidism, thyroid cancer, and other thyroid diseases, among others.
Before joining Summit Health, Dr. Silverman practiced privately in Union, New Jersey. He has been Chief in the Division of Endocrinology and an associate attending physician at Union Hospital, a consulting physician for Irvington General Hospital in Irvington, New Jersey, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, both in Newark, New Jersey. Before his endocrine training, Dr. Silverman worked with Peachtree Emergency Associates and Coastal Emergency Services in Georgia.
Dr. Silverman is a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and an associate of the American College of Physicians. He is an invited fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Union County Medical Society, New Jersey Medical Society, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and American Diabetes Association.
Dr. Silverman is the coauthor of articles and abstracts, which are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Endocrinology, National Academy of Sciences, and University of California Symposium on Cell Shape and Surface Architecture. He has delivered research presentations for the American Diabetes Association and Endocrine Society.
For each consecutive year since 1997, Dr. Silverman has been featured in the Castle Connolly "Top Doctors" and "Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area" listings. Dr. Silverman's top doctor listings have been reprinted in US News and World Report and Inside Jersey.
