Dr. Brown felt compelled to become a doctor after a conversation with his grandmother, during which he found himself wishing he could better understand and help with medical problems she was experiencing. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C., and completed his radiation oncology residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Ore.
“My favorite part of practicing medicine is how something I do today is going to be different the next day,” he says. “Things are always changing, there’s new data out there, there’s always a way to improve. We just keep getting better and better, and that is probably the most exciting thing about it.”
