Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: After graduating from college (Physics, Chemistry), I worked as an electrical engineer. A few years into that, I started pursuing a PhD in Engineering, but I was disappointed to be working towards a degree that would make me more and more specialized. I was volunteering with my local ambulance corps, and some of the ER doctors recommended I look into medical school. As I got more into medicine, I loved that I could learn and teach and feel I was contributing to my community. And in Family Medicine, I've never felt limited by my specialty.
