Obinna Nnedu, MD, MPH, CTropmed, practices infectious disease medicine at Ochsner Health. Dr. Nnedu has expertise in general infectious diseases, HIV care, travel medicine and tropical medicine.
Dr. Nnedu earned his medical degree and master's in public health degrees from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. He completed his internal medicine residency at Tulane University School of Medicine. He then completed his infectious diseases training at the University of Washington in Seattle where he was awarded an National Institutes of Health Fogarty Fellowship. He is board-certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He also has a certificate of tropical medicine from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and a certificate in Travel Medicine from the International Society of Travel Medicine. Dr. Nnedu is an active member of Infectious Diseases Society of America, ASTMH and ISTM. Dr. Nnedu has been practicing at Ochsner since 2013.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys running, watching soccer and listening to music.
