Dr. Sotiris Stamou is a fellowship-trained cardiovascular surgeon with extensive experience performing cardiac bypass surgery and treating conditions of the aorta and aortic valve. He specializes in minimally invasive heart surgeries, aortic and mitral valve repair and replacement and heart bypass surgery. Throughout his career, Dr. Stamou has served as an Associate Professor in the Cardiothoracic Surgery departments at universities in Massachusetts, Michigan and Iowa. He has published peer-reviewed articles in Aorta, Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery, New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, among other publications. He also mentors and advises students engaged in research. Dr. Stamou supports the career development of cardiothoracic surgeons in practices across the country. Committed to clinical excellence, Dr. Stamou has served on a number of Quality Improvement committees to improve outcomes after cardiac surgery. He is currently a member of the Adult Cardiac Surgery Database Task Force, which monitors cardiac patient cases in an effort to improve quality of care and outcomes.
